We are anxious and worried about many things (cf. Luke 10:38-42) because of the uncertainty of what the future may hold. We want more security as a result!<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As Christians, we want to know our mission on earth \u2014\u2014 where we are called to belong, and who we are called to be. But before we know who we should become, we need to know who we are, our true identity. Identities help us define our roles and missions on earth. Our identity defines everything in our lives!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]Identity is a relational concept. It relates us to others. <strong>Since we are created by God and for God, our identity as God&#39;s children and as Christians are our most important identities. That makes growing our relationship with God first and foremost in our priorities in life.<\/strong> Back to the basic question we asked on Day 1 of this retreat: why is there a need to relate to the Holy Spirit?[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;1_2,1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/pentecost.fll.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/man-pray-in-light.jpg&#8221; title_text=&#8221;man-pray-in-light&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;zoom&#8221;][\/et_pb_image][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It is because Jesus reveals to us that it is the Holy Spirit&#39;s role to help us relate to God the Father as \u201cAbba, Father!\u201d (Romans 8:15) And the Spirit intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. The Holy Spirit is the <strong>gateway <\/strong>to the Father&#39;s Heart.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]That is why Jesus said, &#34;Ask, and it will be given you&#34; because God gives us the Spirit to intercede for us, and what the Spirit desires must match the Father&#39;s will.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practically, the Spirit helps us understand the Truth that Jesus taught us (cf. John 14:17) and thus helps us to be holy, conforming us to the image of God. He conveys God&#39;s Word to us and thus helps us make decisions in life and discern our life\u2019s mission. Finally, He also bestows on us supernatural power by granting us different charisms so that we can do greater things as instructed by Jesus (cf. John 14:12).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oftentimes we do not ask God for the right things and we do not ask enough. Asking MORE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT is our best prayer to God because we are asking for something He desires to grant us.<\/p>\n<p>On this Pentecost Sunday, let us ask boldly and wisely to receive MORE of the Holy Spirit into our lives. This is the day to immerse ourselves in the Love of God, who is the Holy Spirit. And you will come out of the baptism in the Holy Spirit a new creation, with confidence and power!<\/p>\n<p>Baptism in the Holy Spirit often takes place in a community setting. <strong>Community members experience deep bonds of fellowship with brothers and sisters with whom they share a common life in the Spirit.\u00a0 There is a new recognition of our interdependence in the body of Christ, and our obligation to put our gifts at the service of others. <em>(cf. Page 29 of &#34;Baptism in the Holy Spirit&#34; by the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services Doctrinal Commission)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Community setting allows members to use, confirm, and collaborate with one another on charisms given by God to each member. In doing so, members can encourage and reinforce one another to be good stewards of the talents God has entrusted to us and to become the best versions of ourselves!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>That is why the first Pentecost did not happen privately but when they were all together in one place (cf. Acts 2:1-4).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is in the Church as well as faith communities that we can best grow our faith, exercise our love and charisms, and discern and fulfill our missions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Jesus entrusted the Church to His mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, through St. John. She is the <strong>perfect collaborator <\/strong>of the Holy Spirit as she has <strong>completely immersed<\/strong> herself in Him. Please continue to enlighten me of my true identity as a child of God, so that I can better discern my role, and empower me to carry out my mission on earth. I ask this in the name of Jesus. O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore you. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, and console me. Tell me what to do, direct my every choice. I promise to submit myself to all you desire of me and to accept all that you permit to happen to me.  Let me only know your will. Grant this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day Nine Receiving the Spirit &#34;Liberating the Spirit&#34; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11:<\/strong> There are different gifts but the same Spirit; there are different ministries but the same Lord; there are different works but the same God who accomplishes all of them in everyone. To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one the Spirit gives wisdom in discourse, to another the power to express knowledge. Through the Spirit one receives faith; by the same Spirit another is given the gift of healing, and still another miraculous powers; prophesy is given to one; to another the power to distinguish one spirit from another; another receives the gift of tongues; another the interpreting of tongues. But it is one in the same Spirit who produces these gifts, distributing them to each as he wills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meditation:<\/strong> Gently breathe in God&apos;s Spirit, that Spirit which if not barred out by selfishness, will enable you to do good works. This means rather, that God will be able to do good works through you. You can become a channel for God&apos;s Spirit to flow through you and into the lives of others. The works that you do will only be limited by your spiritual development. Let your spirit be in harmony with God&apos;s Spirit and there is no limit to what you can do in the realm of human relationships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for the Day:<\/strong> Accomplish your work in me O God, that the many gifts you have given me through the Holy Spirit may lift up the people around me and bring glory to you. Let your Spirit be free in me to fully serve you with all my heart and unite me to work with others in unselfish love. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Your true disciples and animate me in all things with Your Spirit.
