Day 6
Childlike Dependency<\/h1>\n

[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.4.3″ custom_padding=”65px|||||”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.4.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.3″ animation_style=”flip” hover_enabled=”0″]Yesterday, we talked about the Holy Spirit as our Life Coach and His role in leading us back (or driving us back, if we allow Him to take on the driver's seat) to the Father's house, while in the process achieving two purposes: Universal callings (following Christ, self sanctification, and evangelization) and Personal vocation and callings (unique vocation and missions on earth). The key to success in this life journey is whether or not we are faithful to the Spirit's inspirations and following His motions closely (responding to, acting on, and following His way). You can be assured that this is a foolproof way to cruise through life easily and happily.<\/p>\n

There is a foolproof attitude to make this foolproof way more foolproof \u2014 Childlike Dependency. Watching a little child pray provides us some insights into how we should pray. One will be surprised how focused and trusting a child can be when he\/' prays. The relationship becomes real when one places oneself totally in the hands of the Father. You can see the same kind of childlike dependency in Jesus. Everyone should be in awe to see the \u201cdependency\u201d of Jesus, the Son, on His Father! Let us recall that Father, Son, and Spirit are equal in the three Persons of the Holy Trinity. Why is there a need for Jesus to pray, and why in this way?<\/p>\n

At the last supper discourses, Jesus prayed to the Father like this: \u201cNow they know that everything you gave me is from you, because the words you gave to me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me.\u201d (John 17:7-8) Taking no credit, Jesus submitted Himself completely to the Father. You can feel the \u201cemptiness\u201d of Jesus before His Father.<\/p>\n

At the Garden of Gethsemane before His arrest, Jesus prayed three times to the Father, on His knees: \u201cAbba, Father, all things are possible to you. Take this cup away from me, but not what I will but what you will.\u201d (Mark 14:36) Knowing that God the Father knows what is best, Jesus surrendered His holy will to His holy Father. A child's trusting obedience to his\/her father delights any father on earth, let alone God the Father.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row disabled_on=”off|off|off” _builder_version=”4.4.3″ background_enable_color=”off” width=”50%” width_tablet=”70%” width_phone=”75%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” max_width=”75%”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.4.3″][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/pentecost.fll.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/quotation-mark.png” _builder_version=”4.4.3″ animation_style=”bounce”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text admin_label=”Quote” _builder_version=”4.4.3″ header_font=”|600|||||||” header_text_align=”center” header_text_color=”#ffffff” custom_padding=”|20px||20px|false|false” animation_style=”zoom”]<\/p>\n

At that very moment he (Jesus) rejoiced [in] the Holy Spirit and said, \u201cI give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. <\/em><\/h3>\n

(Luke 10:21)[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.4.3″ custom_padding=”65px|||||”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.4.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.3″ animation_style=”flip”]Now that God the Father and God the Son entrust God the Holy Spirit to reveal to us inspirations from the Father, let us also exercise this trusting and childlike obedience toward the Spirit as we genuinely allow Him to dwell in us to set us apart for the Father's will![\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row disabled_on=”off|off|off” _builder_version=”4.4.3″ background_enable_color=”off” width=”50%” width_tablet=”70%” width_phone=”75%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” max_width=”75%”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.4.3″][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/pentecost.fll.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/quotation-mark.png” _builder_version=”4.4.3″ animation_style=”bounce”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text admin_label=”Quote” _builder_version=”4.4.3″ header_font=”|600|||||||” header_text_align=”center” header_text_color=”#ffffff” custom_padding=”|20px||20px|false|false” animation_style=”zoom”]<\/p>\n

\u201cJesus has chosen to show me the only way which leads to the Divine Furnace of love; it is the way of childlike self-surrender, the way of a child who sleeps, afraid of nothing, in its father\u2019s arms.\u201d<\/em><\/h3>\n

Invocation Prayer to the Holy Spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love. O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore you. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, and console me. Tell me what to do, direct my every choice.I promise to submit myself to all you desire of me and to accept all that you permit to happen to me. Let me only know your will.Grant this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.<\/p>\n

Day Six Desiring the Spirit \u201cTrust\u201d Luke 1: 35-38:<\/strong> The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; hence the Holy Offspring to be born will be called Son of God.Know that Elizabeth your kinswoman has conceived a son in her old age, she who was thought to be sterile is now in her sixth month for nothing is impossible with God.Mary said, \u201cI am the servant of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say.\u201d<\/div>\n

Meditation:<\/strong> Once I am \u201cborn of the Spirit.\u201d the Spirit is my life\u2019s breath.Within me is the Life of life.It is the same Life that throughout the ages has helped God\u2019s children through peril, adversity, and sorrow. I must try never to doubt or worry, but follow where the Life of the Spirit leads.How often am I unaware of how God goes before me to prepare the way, to soften the heart, or to overrule resentment? As the life of the Spirit grows, natural desires are placed within a new horizon \u2013to be governed by the will of God.<\/div>\n

Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him.
